Writing 1 First assignment

When I was in senior high school, I like reading some poems weather it is Indonesian poems or English. Reading poems always causes some special senses for me. Just like another work of art, poetry is very pleasure. I found this sense when I read some romantic poems in a literature magazine named Horizon. I found out the fact that there are some works of literature, especially poetry which can bring a kind of unknown feeling. The feeling finally make me constantly like the literature. The feeling increase when I read Sonnet 18 of William Shakespeare in my school library. The poems had been translated into Indonesian but I didn’t understand the meaning but I like it. Then I tried to read the English version but I still no idea to be figured out. Actually my English was quite good in that time but in deed I still found the difficulties in understanding the English poems. Therefore, by this reason, I took the English Language and Literature for my subject in order to figure out the English literature. I believe that literature is not only about pleasure, it contain so much knowledge and meaning. I also believe that students who take this subject are such clever student because English literature is about the high level of English language. They not only speak about the grammar, vocabulary or pronunciation but they speak about the essence and the substance of the language. English literature student pass the basic skills of English language and learn about many things such as politic, psychology, culture, etc. Therefore I want to be one of them.
